Memory Lane

This game has been making the rounds and I decided to join in! Anyone who looks at my blog is obligated to participate!

1. Add a comment on my blog. Leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember! (or feel free to leave a memory of Mike, if you'd rather do that!)

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

MEMORIES OF JAMES

THE FIRST TIME I EVER MET JAMIE.
IT WAS THE YEAR 1984. SHE WAS THE CUTEST LITTLE GIRL I EVER SAW. SHE WAS NOT SCARED OF ME. UNCLE D. WAS VERY PROUD OF HIS LITTLE NEICY. HE TOOK ME UP TO ST. ANTHONY TO MEET HIS BROTHER(BRETT) AND SISTER IN LAW (LAURA). JAMIE TALKED UP A STORM, BUT THE THING I REMEMBER MOST WAS SHE COULD SAY HER ABC'S BACKWARDS AS WELL AS SHE COULD FORWARDS. AND BELIEVE ME THAT WAS PRETTY GOOD. SHE IS STILL PRETTY INPRESIVE. WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU JAMES. AUNTIE KIM

Kim,
As a kid I remember getting babysat at your house many times. One time that sticks out in my mind is the time I was watching a Gilligan's Island marathon, and I was picking my nose so hard that I made it bleed. I got blood all over my favorite Kermit the frog and Miss Piggy T-shirt, and you were upset because you said my parents would think you had beaten me bloody! Then you stuffed some TP up my nose and made me lay with my head hanging off the edge of the couch to keep the blood from coming out.
Ha ha ha. I also remember spaghetti-o's and Tang, and playing in the hot tub. Good times, good times. Love ya Kim!

my most resent memory, is the weekend i was able to spend w/ jamie, mike and vessel.i had a load to deliver to great falls. so they invited me to stay w/ them. they are such a great young family and i love being around them. vessel is the funnyest, and so smart. i suppose he gets it from his parents. or quite possibly from his uncle! the only problem i had is mike and jamie kiss a little too passionate too often. i mean they act like boyfriend girlfriend or something. anyway i love and appreciate them very much, and hope i can see them again soon. thanks for everything jamie and mike love terry ps. someday this will be a memory

Terry,
The memory that comes to mind is the time we watched The Ring and you laughed at all the scary parts. And then recently we watched Shutter and again, you laughed at the scary parts. I'm freaking out and clutching Mike and you're over there just chuckling. I don't know anyone else who laughs at horror flicks like that. :) BTW,it was fun having you over for the weekend! Sorry if our so-called passionate kissing (are you kidding?) frightened you.

I have many memories of you Jamie, I don't want to list just one. I loved serving with you in YW and getting to understand your personality a little better. I love your sense of humor and your disposition. We had some wonderful talks while Crossing and at Girl's night. You were always willing to help me or do random acts of kindness (ie make a cute necklace for all the yw and help me with my purses for my neices)
I miss you!

I remember when you were a kid how you would sit back with Steph and whisper to one another (which always freaked me out)I felt like you were giving me the evil eye. How funny we can misjudge people that way. I have always loved you very much. I have especially enjoyed the more recent memories we have been buliding. I have found you to be a very sweet and kind person. You Mike and vessel are a very sweet family. I love the way your not afraid to express your feelings. Love you lots Erma

Josie,
You really need to get a blog! A memory I thought of was the time us and a few other girls took the Wride's golf cart for a drive around the neighborhood. Everyone else drove really crazy, but you were the only one who drove carefully, making sure we didn't go over the bumps too fast or around the corners too sharply. Safety first, right? And you were so funny signaling with your hands to oncoming traffic! I also remember getting facials at your house for YW, which was a lot of fun! You have always been so nice to me and became one of my dearest friends in SLC. You are also one of the few people who could tolerate my quirky sense of humor and laugh at my jokes. Thanks for that!

Erma,
C'mon, after all these years you really thought I was giving you the evil eye? Psh! One memory that comes to mind is the time you fixed my toy doctor kit that I got for Christmas one year. I was really mad at cousin Danny because I thought he broke it (but it really wasn't broken) and you said you used to be a nurse but you recently became a repair lady. And I totally believed you, and you "fixed" my toy and I was so grateful to you! I have also enjoyed our most recent memories and hope we have many more now that we live closer to each other!

The biggest smile is on my face. Whenever I thknk of you guys, of course I think of Japan. But more specifically, I think of that slide that we found in the woods on christmas break. Do you remember that? It was made of a bunch of little rollers. to call it a slide is just not right...somewhere between a slide and roller coaster. HAHA! That was sooo fun!

Ok, hmmm... the memory that comes to mind is last Thanksgiving, when you were taking pictures of all the food you were about to eat so you could post it on your blog :) I also remember the time that a bunch of our family members were playing Truth or Dare in the park, and Dave was dared to run up to you and grab your longboard and start riding it. You looked a little confused but were a good sport about it :)

Jamie, I have many great memories about you. It's hard to pick just one. How about I start with the first? I came to pick up Mike at his apartment and you were with him. He introduced you, we said hi, and off you went together. Meanwhile I was determined to get his deposit back so I started scrubbing out the bathtub (ugh - boys) and the two of you came back, but you had changed your clothes and either had a hat on, or had taken it off. I asked who you were. Mike said "this is Jamie" and I said "another Jamie" LOL - "no no, the only Jamie". He kept trying to get me to stop cleaning the tub, but I was hot, tired and determined. Too bad, I could have spent some time with you. Anyway, after that I remember you coming down to see him before his Mission, having tons of pictures to go through while you listened to music, and when we had to take you back to the airport I suggested you could sit closer together and you were like "wow, Mike your mom is so cool". I really enjoyed that we could email each other and talk about important stuff now and then while he was gone. Good times for sure. Love you Jamie!

I remember meeting you at Personal Touch and the first thing you said was, "are you married to Luke?" I had no idea how to react because I had never met you...BUT I'm glad that I did! I remember you had LOTS of pictures of Mike at your desk (or you would bring them in) and I remember thinking that you two were PERFECT for each other!

My memory of you is one of the first nights I went to YW. I couldn't figure out what you were calling Vessel. I didn't realize it was his name! I was so embarrassed and I thought I had totally offended you. But you were so nice about it. I've always loved and appreciated your honesty and willingness to help a sista out. Like that weekend you had finals but you still taught for me. So nice! Thank you a million times over!

Karen,
Since you didn't post this on your blog, I'll write my memory about you here. Okay, there are a few. I remember the time we were all going to meet Elder Dave at the airport after his mission ended and you were so nervous. Like extremely nervous. I just remember being in your shoes and feeling the same way when Mike got off his mission. Another time I remember is when you invited us over for dinner one night and afterwards we played old school Nintendo. I was soooooo excited because you had Dr. Mario and it's one of my favorite games of all time! So we had fun playing that together for a good part of the night.

Mom Bates,
I remember a lot of things. Hmmmm, let's see.....
I remember one afternoon Mike and I went with you to run some errands. Mike was in the back and I was up front with you. You were playing a Celine Dion cd and you starting seat dancing in the car and singing along with the lyrics "treat her like a lady!" You were getting into it. It was so hilarious. Mike and I definitely got a kick out of it. :) I also remember the many talks we had while Mike was gone and getting letters and little packages from you. I always felt so welcomed by you and your family, even before Mike and I were married. Thanks for that!

Jamie,
I am having a really hard time trying to come up with just one memory of you so I will name a few. I remember your YW lessons and how amazing they were. I loved the objects and props you would use, it made the lesson that much better. I also remember the help you were to me when I first had baby Miles. You took Spencer to the park while Connor was at preschool. This you did for me so I could get some rest. You have always been very thoughtful and think of others before your self. I remember the super yummy meal you brought my family and I after the baby was born. You are so talented with cooking. I LOVE the cute necklace you made for me even though I was moving you still thought of me and made sure I got one...lucky me. I love the cute hat that you knit for Miles, I wish he didn't grow so fast and could have wore it so much longer. You will be greatly missed by myself and the YW in Millstream ward. Love ya girl!!!

Jamie,

We don't have all that many memories together, but we're working on it, eh?

One thing I remember is about two months after we met I had a berfday. You showed up at my apartment at the butt crack of dawn to wake me up and we went out to eat "the man's breakfast." We spent the morning together, then that night we went out to our last dinner date before I went back to Utah to spend a month with my fam before the mishy mish. I was pretty much sad because I knew I'd miss you so much!

Anyway, I love you and am so glad I met you. You're the best!

-Mike (your husband)

Babe,
Yeah, after almost 5 years of marriage I can't say we have all that many memories together. But we are working on it, like you said. :)

One thing I remember is when we went to the Utah State Fair last year. We decided to ride "the Zipper" and I think it was your first time ever being on a ride like that so you didn't know what to expect. Then the ride started and it flung us forward against the gate and we were suddenly looking down on all the people below feeling like were were going to topple out of that thing. I have never heard you scream so hard or so loud in all our time together! I was laughing so hysterically that tears were rolling down my face. You've always been able to make me laugh, even when you weren't trying to. Thanks for that babe!

Melissa J.,
It was so fun to get to know you when we lived there. The memory that comes to mind is the time that we went out to eat at Cafe Med and you ordered all these cool and interesting things. I thought you were so brave to try new things like that. You ordered hummus and pitas and it was really good. Mike and I went back there a couple of times and I ordered the hummus again! I also remember acting as Mike's home teaching companion and coming over to visit you and Alma. Good times were had by all, am I right?

Jamie,
Wow...what a great memory you have! I had tons of fun eating at Cafe Med with you guys. I remember a not so good thing happened shortly after we ate there. I didn't really know you that well at the time but I felt terribly sad for you at your time of loss. If I'd known you better at the time,I may have know what I could have done for you..instead I did the cliche' typical flowers. You made a great HT companion to Mike...We LOVED your treats and company. We miss you guys!!
