The Fun We Have

My sister and I have had some good laughs. Riding around on her scooter going about 30mph wearing our "cool" sunglasses, while pregnant was one of those times that gave us a chuckle. I feel like we're re-enacting Dumb and Dumber.

Date Night

Date night doesn't happen very often for us, so I love it when we get to go out, just the two of us. Mike took me for a long drive on the motorcycle around River Road and then we watched the funniest movie, "Crazy Stupid Love."

We Will We Will Rock You

Mike and I decided it was time for us to find a hobby that we could do together. So we're taking guitar lessons! We had this brunette acoustic Fender for awhile, just sitting collecting dust. So we picked up this blonde Fender Squier at the pawn shop yesterday so we'd both have one. I can't wait until we can jam out.

A Talk About Politics and Religion With a 4 Year Old

Here is my convo with Vessel tonight, practically verbatim.

Vessel: Who is the girl on my quarter?
Me: That's not a girl, that's a boy.
Vessel: Who is he?
Me: He was our first president. That's George Washington.
Vessel: Why does he have a pony tail?
Me: He wore a wig.
Vessel: Why?
Me: Some people just wore wigs back then.
Vessel: Was he bald?
Me: I don't know...So, anyway...do you know who our president is now?
Vessel: Yep, President Monson.
Me: No, er...I mean, who is the President of the United States?
Vessel: Um...I don't know.
Me: Our president is Barack Obama.
Vessel: Barack Obama is our prophet?
Me: No, Barack Obama is just our president. He's not a Mormon. He doesn't go to our church.
Vessel: Why?
Me: I don't know.
Vessel: Why isn't he Mormon? Why doesn't he want to learn about Jesus?
Me: (laughing) Maybe he learns about Jesus at a different church. So...anyway, Barack Obama is the leader of our country and Thomas S. Monson is the leader of our church.
Vessel: So we have 2 leaders? Why do we have 2 leaders?
Me: Well, I'm the Primary President, so I'm a leader. That means I'm in charge of the Primary. Thomas S. Monson is in charge of the entire church. Barack Obama is in charge of the entire United States, which is where we live.
Vessel: No, we live in Montana.
Me: We do, but Montana is a part of the United States.
Vessel: So Barack Obama is in charge of me?
Me: (laughing) Well, in a way, but not really.
Vessel: Does Barack Obama speak for Jesus?
Me: Uh, no, I don't think so.
Vessel: Oh. (then he lost interest in the conversation and went back to coloring.)

Blast From the Past

It's my lucky day folks, cos I stumbled upon a gem of a photo. Two, actually. I just found these because they were never saved on a memory card. They were saved on my camera's internal memory and I didn't even know they existed until now, while I was messing around on my camera. So enjoy these ugly sweater pictures from December 2009.

*I added this 3rd photo for Bryanna. :)

What a deal!

I found this coupon in the mail. So...if I'm reading this right, I'm paying $12.00 for pizzas and cheese bread that are only worth $8.00? In that case, count me in!

Happy Valentine's Day!

In honor of V-day I thought I'd share some photos and a great little clip of these love birds.

Be Prepared

I was cleaning my computer room and ran across these in a drawer. They were sent to me some time ago by my friend Kenna. She found them in a convenience store, I believe. In this little package the size of a fifty cent piece and around an inch thick is 2 pairs of disposable panties. These are going in my purse now. So if I, or anyone I know, happens to shart themselves, I'll be prepared.

Heck Yeah

Congrats to my hubby who won "Best Overall" chili in the recent chili cook-off! Okay, but let's face it. He made something called "Buffalo Chicken Chili" which you are supposed to eat with blue cheese and blue corn tortilla chips. It WAS NOT really chili, if we're going to be totally honest here. And we all know that chili isn't that great....so that is probably why he won. :) That, and his mad campaigning techniques. I told you that man was competitive!

You should never ask....

if someone is pregnant, especially if you don't know them very well. This happened to me not too long ago. I might've been more offended if they had asked me in person because then I would've taken that to mean I LOOK preggers. But this person asked me over the phone. A little caught off gaurd, I asked "Why?" And they said, "You just sound like you're pregnant." Really? Is this even possible? Eeesh, some people need to mind their business.

Aw...Flowers

I always enjoy it when Mike gets me flowers. It brightens up the whole house, not to mention my mood!

Goals

When Mike and I were first married we started a family journal and in it we wrote 10 goals we wanted to achieve, and so far we've only got 2 more to go. Allow me to tell you what they are.

1. Go skydiving. (I'm not too sure I want to anymore. I have way too much to live for these days.)

2. Go to Disneyland together. (I know, lame goal, right? It's just that I've never been!)

What we've been able to check off our list:

1. Go to the Price is Right game show. (It would've been nice to be a contestant, but at least we got some autographed pictures of Bob Barker, eh?)

2. Go on a cruise together.

3. Ride an elephant.

4. Take a trip overseas. (We actually lived overseas, so perhaps that makes it even better.)

5. Have some kids. (Well, we've got one now. I'm sure down the road we will add an "s" to "kid." No rush, right?)

6. Get at least a bachelor's degree for each of us.

7. See a penguin in real life and possibly pet one. (Yeah, silly goal, but it had to be done. And it was.)

8. Buy a house.

Dream

Usually on Sundays we all take a nap after church. I was in a very deep sleep during today's nap and I had the craziest and most vivid dream ever. I don't even remember my dreams most of the time, but this one stuck really strong. And for the most part, when I do remember my dreams they're about familiar things, like places I know or events that might've already taken place. And those dreams pretty much fade away within a few minutes of waking up. But the particular dream I had this afternoon was seriously like no other. Nothing about the dream was familiar. The places were places I'd never seen before. The events were things I'd never experienced before. The people involved, however, were friends of mine. (At least the main characters.) But everyone else was just a mystery. I don't even know how my brain conjured up such a dream. And I didn't wake up gradually like I usually do. All of a sudden my eyes just "popped" open and I was back in my room again. That dream was so weird to me. But it was also so vivid and so unquestionably real that I can't shake it. Do you think it means something? How do you guys feel about dreams?

Boot Scootin' Boogie

Last Saturday was the "Cowboy Sweetheart Hoedown" south of here in the little town of Cascade. That day Mike and I scoured every thrift store in town and lo and behold, we came up with some SUH-WEET get-ups. As for me, I rounded up some tight jeans, a stylin' striped shirt complete with shoulder pads and a denim collar, a vest, and this huge braided stretchy belt (if you can call it a belt.) I borrowed the hat and boots from a friend and I was set! Woo-hoo! Then Mike, unbeknownst to me, brought home this corduroy suit along with a baby blue button up. When he got home and put it on, I literally fell off the couch laughing. The look was made complete with a belt buckle, bolo tie, and cowboy hat courtesy of Joseph L. Mike was cowboy pimpin'! For $5.00, I don't think he could've gotten a better deal. Mike mentioned that it was a rare occurrence to find a 3 piece vintage suit without any holes or stains that actually FIT! It was fate I tell ya! We had a great time dressing up and I'm so happy we can still do fun things like that as a couple!
When we got to the shin-dig, I noticed several people doing double takes at Mike. It was a little embarrassing, but nobody knew us, right? We ended up sitting at a table with a group of divorcee women who were pretty drunk. Mike works with one of them apparently, and the rest of the broads were friends of hers. They were so nice to us though, and bought us 7-up because they knew we didn't drink. That was considerate of them. One of the gals was SO loud and belligerent on account of the alcohol consumption, but she was also pretty funny. She really wanted to dance with a cowboy, so I told her I would make it my personal mission that night to find her a handsome hunk to cut a rug with. Mike overheard me and took matters into his own hands. He grabbed her by the arm and took her out on the dance floor! They were doing the Texas two-step and the rest of us were busting up laughing! It was an amusing sight to say the least.
Later they auctioned off some "real" cowboys and cowgirls to go out for dinner and a date. One girl was up to $500 smackaroos! I guess if you have the money to have fun like that, then why not, eh? During the auction the crowd was a hootin' and a hollerin'.
There was also a live band called the Thrill Billies. They were actually good, I gotta admit. Mike and I danced to a few songs and also loved to watch the real good dancers do their thing. There were a lot of talented dancers there!
We made some great memories that night and it made me want to be a real cowgirl, for reals yo!

Ursuline Centre

I don't know why I'm fascinated with religious denominations other than my own, especially Catholicism. Maybe the unfamiliar is intriguing. I suppose I'm just interested in how other people worship and pray. So when Vessel and I went to the Ursuline Centre last month it was quite the fun experience. Mostly we just went because it was within walking distance of our house, and when you're stuck at home without a car, sometimes you're desperate to find something to do. :)

Here's V all bundled up before our walk.

Here it is in all it's..er...glory. It's about 100 years old.

The things I'm kind of fascinated with are the statues. But I have to be honest, sometimes they are a little eerie, especially statues of Jesus on the cross. Kind of gives me the heebyjeebies.

Here is a nun mannequin in her habit. It was sweet. What was even sweeter you ask? The fact that I saw a real life nun there, in the flesh! The sister said she was 92! But I didn't get a photo. Blast!

After getting a full tour we went into the chapel. Now this is what I thought was pretty cool, although my pictures really don't do it justice. I'm a big fan of the stained glass windows and painted murals. And lucky for us, V and I were there right as they started Mass. Did we leave you ask? Nope, we stayed for Mass and listened to Father Thomas preach and lots of old people shout "Amen" and "Halleleujah" and do the sign of the cross. I couldn't bring myself to partake of the communion though (not that they'd let me anyway, since I'm not a Catholic.)

V and I had fun, and hey, we killed a good 2 hours there. So by the time we got back it was V's naptime! Yay! Here is the cutie on our way back home.

He needs a cushion

Vessel has been demonstrating "pretend play" a lot the past couple of months. He has some little "guys" as he likes to call them, which are basically a bunch of random toy men and action figures. Today he was in his room playing with them and then he came into my room to show me what he did for his little Dracula toy. Apparently Dracula's coffin was a bit uncomfortable as it was, because Vessel put one of his little socks in there to serve as a cushion. He told me he "made a pillow." It was really cute.

This was the only thing that made me laugh all day.

Still Laughing

For my sister's birthday, Mike thought it would be funny if we got her a box of enemas because we're mature like that. (Don't worry, we still got her a *real* gift too.) She laughed like crazy when she opened it. I'm not sure why it was so incredibly funny to her, (or any of us for that matter) but we all got a case of the giggles.

Laughing

Still laughing
(I think at this point she saw the drawing on the back that indicated what position to use the enema)

Yup, still laughing....I think she was crying from laughing so hard. Whenever I hear or see my sister laugh, I have to laugh with her. :)

Disturbing

For the boy child's birthday my grandma sent some thrift store items along with his regular gifts. One of them was a toy box full of little Lego blocks. So last night I decided to sort through the blocks to make sure they were all safe (not too small, not broken, etc.) In my shuffling I found a lot of random little things among the blocks.

One of those things was this little treasure box. It rattled when I shook it so naturally I thought there might be a little Lego block in there or something.

But to my horror....

I found a human tooth inside! And it was not a kid's tooth either. It was an adult tooth with a huge filling in it. My sister and I were very GROSSED OUT!

Ewwww.....

My dad picked it up and started examining it. I didn't even want to get near it, let alone touch it!
Be careful what you find at thrift stores folks. :)
