Just a few recent pics

Vessel drew his family on his magnetic drawing board. (He's had that drawing board for about 3 1/2 years now and it's starting to show.)

All bundled up.

We got Jacob a Bumbo chair about 2 months ago but he doesn't seem to like it much. The only time he tolerates it is if one of us is feeding him. He started eating some solids about 3 weeks ago. Sometimes it's like you can't shovel it in fast enough for him.

Dear Santa

Here is Vessel's letter to Santa. You might have to click on the image to make it larger. This is what it says: "Dear Santa, I have been good. I want a spinning toothbrush. And a brain toy. And milk trains. Thank you! Love, Vessel"

Well, I think I know what a spinning toothbrush is, but the other two things? I'm clueless. I better figure it out soon though. Wouldn't want to disappoint the little tyke, right?

Irreverence

Jacob loves to laugh. And he laughs the most at Vessel. It doesn't matter what Vessel is doing, Jacob just laughs at him all the time. Sometimes it seems for no reason at all. Last night Vessel volunteered to say the family prayer. Throughout Vessel's entire prayer Jacob laughed like crazy. That, in turn, made everyone else laugh. We couldn't stop. And that just made Jacob laugh even more. It was too funny.

Randomosity

Thoughts and musings of my day today:

Salame.

It's been awhile.

It's wishing day all day today.

I love guacamole.

Remember ska punk?

I want a king size bed.

I hate it when people feel left out. It's sad.

Frozen leftover Halloween chocolate=yummy little treat after dinner.

Drain is clogged. Must be all that hair I'm losing. I might need Rogaine for women.

My freckles are starting to come out. Or are those just age spots?

Remember rubber cement? Ah, grade school....

I like meatless meat.

How hard is it to flush the toilet? I mean, seriously kid.

What am I passionate about? Good question....

Should I have more kids?

New goal=Stop being ashamed

Chi

Toss this all together, add some corn chips and cheese and you've got yourself some randomosity nachos.

First time in the leaves

Not a big fan, apparently, since he's trying to escape.

Me with my sweet baby

Cute red jammies

Bald spot and "bear" bottom

Halloween pics a week and a half late:

We threw an awesome Halloween shindig this year (for adults only.) Food, decorations, music, dancing, games, prizes....It was fun. A lot of stress for me, but still a lot of fun. :)

Here is the hubs posing as Buccaneer Bones.

I didn't get many pictures of the party, unfortunately. But here is one of the couples with their homemade costumes. They rocked!

Emily brought cupcake hamburgers

Terri brought deviled eyeballs.

Here's my little V at the ward carnival

And here we are as a fam. Lookin' goooooood.

Pumpkin Patch

I promised Vessel he could pick out a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch for his birthday. Here are some photos of our afternoon.

My Blog is Boring, right?

I honestly wish I had more time to write. That's the only thing keeping me from updating my blog. I have all these things I want to talk about. So many things I want to get out of my head. But finding the time to type it out and organize it? Not really. Maybe someday soon. I don't want to stop writing. I miss it.

Shippy and Smiles

Here are some comparisons of my two boys at around the same age

The title of this post is Shippy and Smiles, which is what I call my boys. Shippy is Vessel because he was a tanker as a baby (well, and vessel is another word for ship) and Smiles is Jacob because he is the most smiley little guy I've ever known. I don't remember Vessel ever smiling and laughing as much as Jacob does. Jacob laughs and smiles so much I just started calling him "Smiles." We'll see if it sticks.

Here are some super adorable pics of Jacob:

So this is such a random post, but I just wanted to show some pics of our summer projects:

Our backyard, which used to be horrific. I wish I would've taken some before shots. We tore out lots of trees and bushes with an excavator, ripped out a fence, tilled the dirt, made a trail, laid down sod. Phew, it took a long time.

Here is the retaining wall my husband built. He is quite amazing. I think it turned out splendidly.
Here is a picture of our deck. It wasn't this year's project, but I don't know if I ever posted pictures of it. We made a fire-pit in the center so we roast hot-dogs and marshmallows on occasion.
Mike learned a lot of new skills this summer, including how to put tile around the fire-pit.
You can't really see them, but I have some square food gardens in the back. It didn't produce anything this year. I planted a couple tomato plants, but I knew it was too late in the year to get anything from them. Maybe next year....

Now all we need is to build a privacy fence around the backyard and it should be all set. :)
